Party at the Dukebox: Your fun Easter weekend at the Duke of Wellington

This Easter weekend the team at the Boyz Award-winning Duke of Wellington will be serving up all your favourites in their Dukebox. Great DJs, tripe tunes, plus that amazing friendly service and vibe all weekend. Dave Cross had a chat with General Manager Oliver Blatherwick to find out more.

Hi Oliver, how is life in Wellyland so far in 2019?

It’s been a great year so far with our mini sparkle to freshen the old bird. Our new night Friday night, Panda Pop! with DJ Heidi Liscious is the hottest night in Soho. #BusyLady Bingo on Tuesdays has never been busier so remember to book a table to avoid disappointment!

You have a big Easter weekend ahead, can you tell us about each of the nights, starting with Thursday?

Upstairs we have our resident social group The BritBears with their quiz hosted by Sum Ting Wong and only £3 to play so get in touch to book. Downstairs we will be starting our Dukebox Easter weekender with DJ Lady Lloyd from 9pm, who will be playing the best pop and R&B bangerz from the 90s and 00s plus all the latest chart toppers… basically no shit.

What about Good Friday and Saturday?

Good Friday we have our resident DJ Heidi Liscious for an extended Panda Pop with all your fav pop mash-ups and David Robson will be joining us on Saturday night with classic dance pop and some electro and new wave. Each night we are open late, so if you keep buying the drinks we’ll keep playing the tracks.

What’s happening on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday?

Easter Sunday we have a very special Live Acoustic night, Sounds of Soho with Vanity von Glow singing power ballads with Huw Roberts on guitar. Bank Holiday Monday, we are giving you the hair of the dog with all day £2.50 promotion on selected drinks.

You have a Jukebox, or rather Dukebox theme this Easter, if you had to choose, can you tell us your three favourite jukebox choices?

My current three tracks that I am obsessed with (and will be constantly played over the weekend): Chains of Love by Erasure, Fantasy by George Michael and Nile Rodgers and I’m loving Bananarama’s new track Stuff Like That… I can’t get enough of it.

We had a brilliant time at the Star Trek quiz a few weeks ago with Martha, are you doing another one and what else is coming up?

Yes, we have officially announced that our next Star Trek quiz will be on Thursday 27 June; Quiz Trek: The Next Iteration… I thought it should be called Quiz Trek II: The Wrath of Martha. Get in touch with Martha D’Arthur on social media to book your table and team.

Entry is free.
