Rupert Street: Quality Street in Soho

Rupert Street is the much loved Soho bar that has recently undergone a stylish and cool refit. Dave Cross had a catch up with Manager Grant to find out what’s new and their plans for Pride.

Hi Grant, how is life at Rupert Street?

Life is good! I took over Rupert Street towards the end of 2018 and  it’s been a wild ride and a lot of fun. With the refit finished it’s fab to see a new lease of life injected into Rupert Street.

What has the reaction been to the recent refit and new decor?

The reaction has been great, people seem to really like it; it’s been an amazing opportunity to really put my stamp on Rupert Street. The feel is a very chic late night disco with splashes of gold.

Can you tell us about the drinks deals on cocktails and champagne?

Of course! All of our cocktails are on promotion from midday to 8pm, that’s two for £12. The pornstar martinis never seem to stop flowing once 5 o’clock hits, personally it’s the expresso martini or a margarita for me. We also offer our house Champagne, Montaudon at £25 a bottle on the same deal, which is perfect for midweek birthday celebrations or starting your Friday night off in style.

And you have DJs playing each weekend?

On Fridays we run a rotation of DJs so it always fresh and you never know who might be playing. Saturdays we have our resident DJ the fabulous Tasty Tim, who sets the mood for the perfect Saturday night.

For many people Rupert Street is a key place on Pride day, what plans do you have for this year?

This Pride our theme is On Pride We Wear Pink, think Mean Girls and of course we have the fab Tasty Tim from 8pm till late. We have some stand-alone speed bars in place so we can get beer in people’s hands quicker, personally I’m just praying for the sun and all will be well come 6 July.

What else are you planning for the rest of 2019?

Throughout August and September to see the summer out in style we will be staying open late every Saturday until 2am, we’ve also got some charity nights coming up that will be supporting The Food Chain which will involve lots of free giveaways, it will be announced post Pride.

Entry is free.
