Your guide to Brighton Pride

We do love to be beside the seaside, especially on the first weekend in August for the brilliant Brighton Pride – and loads of us will be taking the train down from Victoria and London Bridge. This year’s two day event promises to be the biggest and best yet with everything you could want for a marvellous LGBTQ+ celebration… including Kylie and Grace Jones. Here’s what you need to know.

The Pride Community Parade

Saturday 3 August, from 11am

The Community Parade is the best way to start your Brighton Pride weekend. This year it marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and under the banner of Generations of Love will be a showcase for the continued campaigning for LGBTQ+ rights, highlighting diversity and inclusion with representatives of BAME and trans communities at the front of the parade. The Parade is also loads of fun with local groups and business ramping up the colour and spectacle as it makes its way from Hove Lawns through the town to Preston Park.

Pride in the Park

Saturday 3 August, from midday

Pride in the Park is the huge and glorious beating heart of Brighton Pride with a marvellous mix of everything your little LGBTQ+ heart could desire. Preston Park will be packed with literally something for everyone including… the Legends Cabaret Tent hosted by Lola Lasagne, the Dance Big Top hosted by He.She.They, the BRUT Men’s Dance Tent, the Diva Dance Tent, BAME Stage hosted by The Cocoa Butter Club, Queertown on the Park, Family Diversity Area, the Community Space and market, tons of food stalls, bars, the funfair and more, much more. Plus of course there’s the main stage, headlined this year by the ultimate pop princess herself, Kylie in a full live show plus able support from Clean Bandit, Bjorn Again, Fleur East, Rina Sawayama and more. Phew!

Pride Pleasure Gardens

Friday 2 to Sunday 4 August

For the past few years the Pleasure Gardens, located in the city centre have been a real highlight of Brighton Pride. This year we get three days of enchanting and exciting entertainment including fierce fun, saucy wonders, camp pop, stunning cabaret, sensational live performances, cool DJs and hot clubbing from the likes of Sink The Pink (featuring none other than Spice Royalty herself Melanie C), Boogaloo Stu, Line dancing from the Cactus Club, BRUT and more. Check the website for all the details.

Official Pride Parties

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August

Theres’s much more to Brighton Pride than the Parade and Preston Park with a whole buffet of delicious parties and events to dip into. On Friday night (2 Aug) you can get in the mood with The Freemasons DJing at Ohso Social from 9pm. We’ve already mentioned Sink The Pink on Saturday in the Pleasure Gardens, but it’s worth saying again… Melanie C… we know! Also on Saturday night the team from Horse Meat Disco are in town from 10.30pm at Patterns on the seafront and there’s a Pride Neon Party at Ohso Social. On Sunday there’s two big parties including the mega popular Sunday Sundae Pride Reunion at Patterns from 3pm featuring a gorgeous line-up of big name DJs at this legendary event. Also on Sunday the team from BRUT will be in the Pleasure Gardens from 2pm to midnight with their Bearfest 2019.

LoveBN1 Fest

Sunday 4 August, 1.30pm to 9.30pm

Following the huge success of its debut last year, LoveBN1 Fest is back on Sunday at Preston Park for an afternoon and evening of fun and music. There will be loads of family friendly entertainment, circus skills, performance artists, cabaret, dance tents, street food village, accessibility tent and well-being area plus much more including the main stage which features the legend that is Grace Jones and headlining is one of the 21st century’s biggest world stars, Jessie J. Plus there’s also Rak Su, Nina Nesbit, the House Gospel Choir and more.

Travel and accommodation

There’s many options for travel to Brighton Pride, including this year a brand new coach service to and from Preston Park and various UK destinations including London. Brighton has many accommodation choices and one of the most fun is the official Pride campsite at Waterfall which is perfectly equipped for your weekend stay including on-site catering.
