See & Scene: Waltham Forest Pride, White Swan, The RVT, Two Brewers, Ku and more

Waltham Forest Pride this Saturday

This Saturday (27 Jul) is the 2019 Waltham Forest Pride. The day starts at 10am with a brunch at The William IV pub and then at 11am a parade from the Baker’s Arms to Walthamstow Town Square. From midday in the square there will be speakers, performers and much more going on all afternoon before the after-parties at The Chequers, William IV and at The Victoria where there will be drag stars, DJs and loads of fun.

It’s all go at The RVT

There’s another action-packed week ahead at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern starting on Friday (26 Jul) with Push The Button and a special night dedicated to the woman we’d all love to be our Prime Minister, Kylie Minogue. Saturday was actually made by God (other sky wizards are available) to house Duckie and on Sunday it’s the quiet and demure (she paid us to say that) Myra DuBois. Monday is Big Bingo, Bar Wotever on Tuesday and on Wednesday (31 Jul) The RVT film club presents a Golden Girls special. Plus Thursday next week (1 Aug) is The Big Quiz, a fundraiser for both Cabaret vs Cancer and Cancer is a Drag. Tickets at vauxhalltavern.com.

Cabaret at The Brewers

The weather may be very hot, but the cabaret line-up at The Two Brewers is shorchio! On Thursday (25 Jul) Boyz Award-winner KY Kelly is back at the cabaret Mothership and on Friday it’s the always hilarious Miss Jason. Saturday night sees those frisky bunnies CK hopping on to the stage and Sunday it’s The Power of Four with Myra DuBois, Miss Jason, Mary Mac, and Sandra. Plus the Brewers have just confirmed they have added a second Pam Ann date on Friday 24 August, tickets on sale at the venue or via the2brewers.com.

Cool down at Ku

It may seem like a contradiction, but Ku Bar, Lisle Street and Little Ku home to the hottest boys in town, is actually a fantastic place to cool down with their delicious drinks menu packed with tasty treats and state of the art air con. Swing by after work or make a night of it at the weekend. It’s always cool.

Terri Fox at The White Swan

There’s a very special treat in store for cabaret fans this Saturday (27 Jul) at The White Swan. The amazing Terri Fox is making a rare UK performance in their lounge bar and this promises to be a night of sophisticated songs and laugh out loud humour.

Closer to Above The Stag

This weekend not only can you see the brilliant Closer to Heaven, the musical from the Pet Shop Boys and Jonathan Harvey, but from Thursday (25 Jul) for three nights there’s a special late night cabaret spectacle from the amazing Reuben Kaye called Journey to the Centre of Attraction. Tickets for all shows at abovethestag.com.

XXL Construction

This Saturday (27 Jul) it’s Construction time again at XXL, which means bears and blokes in skimpy denim shorts and a load of banging about. Plus as well as those amazing resident DJs, you get a music throw down in the main room as Hutch goes head to head with Moto Blanco… Yummy.

Stay chilled at The Duke of Welly

You may have noticed it’s quite hot out there… we feel it’s our duty to recommend you pop into The Duke of Welly straight after work where the beers are guaranteed to be ice cold and the atmos chilled. It’s great for an afterwork drink or a weekend night out especially if you are partial to chaps of the bear persuasion.

Happy Hour at Rupert Street

As it’s a tad warm, why not swing by Rupert Street and treat yourself to two of their amazing cocktails for just £12 or a bottle of Champagne for £25 between midday and 8pm every single day. Go on, do it!

Poppycock at The Old Ship

There’s a couple of fantastic acts this weekend at The Old Ship in Limehouse starting on Saturday with the Boyz Award-winning PoppyCock featuring songs from shows, some 80s hits and loads of laughs. On Sunday it’s the return of the calm and well behaved Cosmic for another night of reflection and gentle humour… Not!

Halfway’s glamorous line-up

It’s another sizzler of a weekend ahead at Halfway II Heaven with not one, but two stars of stage and screen on Friday (26 Jul) when Myra DuBois, soon to be seen in the film of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is followed by Vileda Moppe who is currently starring in the original stage show. Saturday is another bumper package with Mary Mac at 4pm, Rose Garden at 5pm, at 8pm it’s Dave Lynn and The Vixens with DJ Justin Swift at 10pm. Sunday belongs to the fabulous CK and on Monday (29 Jul) Tia Kofi (from The Vixens) is back with her quiz, The Weakest Twink at 8.30pm.

Harry Poppers and the Chamber of Sequins

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Hogwarts… the Boyz Award-winning Two Box Productions are back at The Two Brewers with another musical tale from their favourite boy wizard. Harry Poppers and the Chamber of Sequins (on 14, 15 and 16 August) follows on from their Deathly Swallows show and is bound to have us laughing all the way to Diagon Alley and JK Rowling calling her lawyers. Tickets from outsavvy.com
