See & Scene: All the news for the August Bank Holiday weekend and more

The Two Brewers Bank Holiday bonanza

It’s all go down in Clapham for the August Bank Holiday weekend at The Two Brewers and it starts with a double whammy from our favourite international bright young thing, Pam Ann. She’s at the venue on Thursday (22 Aug) with Mary Mac, for a sold out show, but there are tickets available for Friday. Also on Thursday there’s cabaret from Lisa Q Jones and on Friday it’s Poppycock and the Pineapple DJs. Saturday night sees Mary back and on Sunday The Power of Four is Miss Jason, Sandra, Danny Beard and Brenda Le Beau. On Bank Holiday Monday (26 Aug) 25 they have a huge line-up for Drags and Stags, a fundraiser for new gay rugby club, the London Stags hosted by Tanya Hyde with many more big names.

Double the XXL fun

There’s a double dose of furry XXL fun this Bank Holiday at Pulse. The bonkers starts on Saturday (24 Aug) with XXL Fetish when our Italian station, DJ Pagano teams up wit the residents, Paul Morrell, Alex Logan, Joe Egg and David Robson for bear fuelled shenanigans. And on Sunday Suzie and the team from Hard On, including DJ Brent Nicholls may a welcome return.

The RVT’s big one

Bank Holiday weekends are the stuff of legend at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern and this one promises to be another sizzler. Thursday (22 Aug) it’s Solve-Along-A-Murder’She-wrote when you get to try and beat Jessica Fletcher and on Friday there’s a special from Push The Button as they celebrate those Schlage Divas. Saturday is, of course, the mighty Duckie with music from the Readers Wifes and performers Rubyyy Jones and Lyndall Marwick. On Sunday it’s the extended 12 hour Sunday Social with not one, but two queens of cabaret, Tanya Hyde and Tracy La Bouche. On Bank Holiday Monday its the mazing RVT Sports day hosted by Timberlina followed by Miss Jason and DJs inside the venue.

Ku’s Summer Beach Party

As someone fabulous once said… Ku what a scorcher! Gary, Stafanos and the rest of those beautiful boys and girls at Ku are throwing down the towels and claiming their place in the sun this weekend for the Ku Summer Beach Party. All their venues will be rocking, but the main beach action is at Ku Leicester Square on Lisle Street, with cool summer bops, refreshing cocktails and beers and did we mention the boys in swimwear? Oh yes, that too.

Something special at Halfway

There’s packed weekend of cabaret at Halfway II Heaven including Poppycock and Mary Mac on Friday (23 Aug) plus Mrs Moore, Rose Garden and The Vixens on Saturday. But the big news in on Sunday (25 Aug) there’s a special PINK themed CK Sunday fundraiser for Stonewall in memory of the late and much missed Mark Galvayne with loads of surprises and remember to dress in pink. Bank Holiday Monday is another round of The Weakest Twink quiz hosted by Tia Kofi.

Duke of Welly House Party

The gang at The Duke of Wellington are throwing their own version of a fun house party all weekend, this Bank Holiday complete with the best tunes in London. It all starts on Friday (23) with gorgeous pop classics from Holester, followed on Saturday by day glow princess Heidi Liscious and on Sunday it’s new boy Kiel Payton. Plus the cold beer and fun crowd are guaranteed not to run out.

Everyone’s favourite boy wizard, Harry Poppers and his chums, Ron Squeezeme and Hermione Minger are apperating next Wednesday (28 Aug) for a one off performance at The RVT. Harry Poppers and the Chamber of Sequins is the latest musical parody from Two Box production and got a five star review from us here at Boyz. Tickets via vauxhalltavern.com

This whole bank Holiday weekend the team at The White Swan are celebrating their 34th Birthday starting with CJ’s Open Mic on Thursday (22 Aug) and Aaron Bader’s party night on Friday. The big party is Klub Kamp on Friday with Miss Prince and special guest, the outrageous Sandra.

Old Ship Cabaret

John and his team at The Old Ship have a fantastic weekend line-up for us this Bank Holiday starting on Saturday (24 Aug) with Misss Jason. On Sunday there a show from Miss Ross and Bank Holiday Monday it’s Davina Sparkle. Gorgeous.

Above the Stag Theatre

The Bank Holiday doesn’t have to be all about booze, boys, cabaret and clubs… although that’s all fun. Why not treat yourself to a trip to the theatre, specifically the UK’s only full time LGBT+ theatre, Above The Stag in Vauxhall. Right now you can see Closer To Heaven the musical by the Pet Shop Boys and Jonathan Harvey or Making Porn, a hilarious look at the gay porn industry by Ronnie Larsen. Tickets for both at abovethestag, com

Sweatbox Bank Holiday Monday

If you’ve been out most of the long weekend at bars and clubs and just generally being fabulous, then why not head to Sweatbox on Bank Holiday Monday for some ‘relaxation’. If you haven’t been since the makeover then we 100% recommend it and as it’s a Monday, guys under 25 get in for free with ID. Wahoo!
