The London Otters Rowing Club, one of the world’s largest LGBTQI+ rowing clubs, with over 150 members is holding their third annual Rainbow Races regatta this Saturday 23 November. The competition will be held at the Royal Albert Docks in London in support of the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign to stand up against homophobia in sport.
The LondonOtters welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced rowers. They were set up to help break down barriers that prevent LGBTQI+ individuals from getting involved in sports. They believe their club’s success is down to creating a safe and welcoming community where everyone can learn and participate, regardless of their gender, age, race, sexuality, religion, athletic abilities or skills.

This is the third year the London Otters have organised this event where they invite other rowing clubs to race alongside them. Competitors all wear different coloured T-shirts, so each boat of 8 rowers represents a full rainbow flag in support of the LGBTQ community and Stonewall’s campaign. Several heats will be held between throughout the day with the final at the end of the event.
They will also have an Otter village for spectators and loads of socialising afterwards.
