All I Want For Christmas is Attention is the brand new Christmas extravaganza from two of our favourite American drag stars, Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme. It’s on Monday 2 December at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town and we had a quick catch up with them both to find out what’s on their Christmas lists.
Hi guys, please describe All I Want For Christmas in one line.
Jinkx: It’s the perfect mix of music and comedy… showcasing the clever wit of two of the most convicted performers in the drag cabaret circuit.
Ben: Everything you want from a drag holiday spectacular, and even more you didn’t know you wanted. Comedy, live singing, original music, irreverent parodies, glamorous costumes, ridiculous costumes… all with a focus on the joys and pitfalls of the season.
What are your favourite songs from the show?
Ben: I’m VERY excited for some of the new parodies we have written… but I don’t give too much away. Let’s just say that I’m pretty sure we have created the Hanukkah bop of the year.
Jinkx: My favourite song would have to be That Kind of Holiday Show — it gives the audience everything they need to know about Dela and Jinkx, and the show you’re about to see. I for one, love having things all laid out for me!
Ben can you describe Jinkx and Jinkx can you describe Ben?
Jinkx: Dela is one of the best drag artists I’ve ever known. A prolific writer, with a keen knack for informed satire. Dela inspires me to be the best performer I can be.
Ben: Jinkx is a natural born performer, which paired with her insane work ethic makes her one of the best queens in the biz. She and I build off each other’s energy and drive each other forward. Both she and her work are smart, thoughtful, and hilarious.
Apart from Attention, what would you actually both like for Christmas?
Jinkx: A new US President.
Ben: If we get what Jinkx asks for…then I guess I’ll take socks?
