World AIDS Day

forum+ invites you online to commemorate World AIDS Day 2020 on Tuesday 1st December

forum+ is proudly presenting an online event to commemorate World AIDS Day on Tuesday 1st December at 6.30 pm. The Camden and Islington based independent charity for LGBTQ+ people is inviting you to enjoy conversation, music and poetry live online as they join together with the global HIV community’s call to action: Global solidarity, shared responsibility.

Guest speakers include Alex Sparrowhawk from Terrence Higgins Trust, Cheryl Gowar, Policy and Campaigns Manager at National AIDS Trust and David Robson, Chair of the London LGBT Forums Network and Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Forum.

You can enjoy a live spoken word performance from Simon Maddrell, whose poetry explores existence as a queer Manx man, thriving with HIV and music from the wonderful London Gay Men’s Chorus.

The online event for World AIDS Day is supported by Camden Council and Islington Council. Tessa Havers-Strong, Director of forum+, said: “Never in the 32 years since the foundation of the first global health day that is World AIDS Day, has the global community faced such a health emergency like COVID-19.

“On World AIDS Day 2020, forum+ will commemorate with poetry and music the lives lost to AIDS. A conversation will be held with community leaders and experts in the field of HIV to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted on the lives of those living with HIV, access to treatment and prevention programmes and the targets to end the AIDS global epidemic. More than ever it is important our communities work together in global solidarity and shared responsibility in the fight against HIV.”
