Singer and songwriter Lee Henry releases charity single “Stay, Don’t Go” to support NHS England staff health and wellbeing

Stay, Don’t Go is a single about hope, support, and togetherness in today’s current climate. Surrey based singer, songwriter and producer, Lee Henry wrote and produced the song after he heard about the less than satisfactory proposed 1% government pay rise to NHS staff/frontline workers during the pandemic and the effect it has had on their mental health and wellbeing.

The song title came about after watching Roman Kemp’s ‘Our Silent Emergency,’ and the psychological factors related to suicide risk in the UK, affected since the restrictions kicked in with common themes expressed including feeling isolated, hopeless about the future and trapped.

Lee Henry is a music teacher and musician and for the last year, he’s been trying to get his students through GCSEs, Grades, and DofE assignments which is no easy task via FaceTime. But recently, he was asked by NHS England to provide light relief in the form of online gigs. The idea was to raise spirits for the staff, who are suffering from stress due to COVID and long hours. As a result of doing the NHS England gigs, he decided to independently write a song to sing for them to perform at his online gig last Friday.

Lee Henry said: “I wrote Stay, Don’t Go, to perform at my online gig to over 150,000 staff and to raise as much money for this cause as I can. I must point out that I am not taking any money from this, I do not want the money inputted into making the track back and every penny of every download will go directly to the NHS. I want nothing more than to try to give something to these amazing people. Abbey Road Studios has kindly mastered the track for us and if anyone would like to get involved and collaborate with us on raising awareness, I’d be happy do so.”

Stay, Don’t Go by Lee Henry for NHS staff’s mental health and wellbeing being.
