Outrageous club brand Trough lands in London for its second event this weekend and this time it takes over party haven The Coronet. Here we speak to promoters Nik and Sergio ahead of what is bound to be another action-packed, muscle men sweat fest.
Hi guys, how did your first party at The Vaults go?
N: The first party was an absolute blast! DJ Boris from Berlin slammed hard techno beats until the last man was standing. Also it introduced the London gay scene to a venue (The Vaults) that hadn’t been explored before – and you know how much we love to explore and touch new territories. We will be bringing Trough back to The Vaults later this year as bookings there are very rare and they are quite selective. I guess after they checked us out on Facebook they chose us because of our promo artwork and the size of our members.
Why have you decided to hold your second party at a different venue with The Coronet?
S: Doing Trough at the iconic Coronet has been one of the biggest ticks on my bucket list. Seriously, there are less than a handful of venues left in London that can hold such a large scale event and include darkrooms and playrooms for men to get to know one another – up close. At Trough, we like to give everyone a chance to hang, dance and drop their load all before the end of the night. Too many venues like The Coronet have become a dying breed, so Trough is honoured to take over one of London’s most historic entertainment venues. Plus it was the largest venue we could find where we could erect our new 16-and-a-half-foot penis installation.
How did you go about choosing the DJs for this second party? And what kind of sound can we expect?
N: Rather than giving London a turbo techno beating like last time, we have curated a more eclectic selection of dance music played by some local and international guests, keeping the tone of the night in true Trough tradition – hard, deep and penetrative.
Featured is our resident DJ of 12 years from Sydney Australia, Seymour Butz of Stereogamous, who has pounded beats in bathhouses and remixed iconic giants like George Michael, Grace Jones, Kylie, LCD Soundsystem.
Also, international circuit and pride DJ stars the Sexshooters will rise to the challenge and get in touch with their dark side, replacing their renowned uplifting high-energy (m)anthems with sweaty, dirty beats that will have you reach climax before the end the night.
Lovebox Sunday creator/organiser and acid house legend James Baillie will mash up a hard dose of techno, new-beat and dark disco, and finally ‘beefy, beautiful and bent’ Wes Baggaley will warm up the night plus play his butch blend of dark beats inside the darkrooms with one fist firmly on his deck, ahem.

What kind of live performances can we expect this time round?
S: We usually like to keep the publicity of the performances fairly low key – like an STD test result, we prefer it to be a surprise. We are more into a happening rather a halftime showstopper. That way the performances do not require the full attention of an audience. Saying that, we can leak that we have two Italian stallion porn actors, Paco and Alberto Esposito, showing us their tricks on the night. Enough said.
