The big day is here, Pride in London is this Saturday (8 Jul) and it looks like it’s going to be sensational. Here’s all your need to know about the Parade and Trafalgar Square. No matter what you do, have a great day, always have some water with you and be safe. Happy Pride.
The Parade – starts at 1pm
This year’s Pride in London Parade will be the biggest and best one yet with over 300 groups marching and many fabulous floats. The Parade starts at 1pm at just north of Oxford Circus on Regent Street and then makes it way down Regent Street to Piccadilly Circus and then it heads down Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square and ending at Whitehall. If you are going to watch the Parade, we recommend getting there early and avoiding the places where it will be very busy such as Oxford Circus and Piccadilly.
Trafalgar Square – starts at midday
Trafalgar Square is the centrepiece of Pride in London with an incredible line-up of performers and speakers taking you from pop to politics, causes to cabaret and right back round again all organised into handy sections. Here’s a few highlights… please note that some times may change on the day!
Midday – The West End
Featuring Dreamgirls, He Shoots He Scores at Above the Stag, A West End Disney tribute and more.
12.50pm – Pride’s Got Talent
Michael Twaits introduces stars from this year’s Pride’s Got Talent finals plus the amazing Saara Aalto from X Factor.
2.30pm – The Queens
A selection of the biggest and best scene cabaret stars including Mary Mac, Mzz Kimberly, La Voix, Vanity von Glow and Silvers Summers – plus the board of Pride In London will address the crowd.
3.55pm – The Afternoon
The main afternoon session includes a diverse mixture of stars including Fleur East, Impulse presents Drag Race, the Pink Singers, London Gay Big Band, Sinitta, both winners of Pride’s Got Talent 2017, Velma Celli, Tracy Barlow winner of Drag Idol 2017 and much more.
The Parade and Trafalgar Square may get all the mainstream media attention but there’s so much more to Pride in London. We take a look at what’s happening on the various stages in Soho on Saturday and in Vauxhall at Pride in the Park on Sunday (9 Jul).
The Cabaret Stage on Dean Street
12.15pm – 7.30pm
This year’s Soho cabaret stage has the strongest line-up to date covering all areas of the cabaret scene. There’s a host of acts from Pride’s Got Talent and the finalists from Drag Idol plus Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho, Kara Van Park, Vinegar Strokes, Jacqui Swallows, Son of a Tutu, Sum Ting Wong, Adam All, Louis Cyfer, The Vixens and loads more great acts.
Radio Diva’s Women’s Stage in Leicester Stage
12.20pm – 7.30pm
There a fantastic array of talent on the Woman’s Stage this year including Sarah Jane Morris, Horse MacDonald, Laura Tapp, Stooshe and many more women performers.
Community Village and Family Stage
12.30pm – 7.30pm
The Community Village in Soho Square will be packed out with fascinating stalls and is a great place to chill. Plus the Family Stage and Illuminations Square in Golden Square is the perfect place to enjoy entertainment aimed at a family crowd and kids.
Pride in the Park with UK Black Pride
Sunday 9 July, midday to late at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens
Pride in the Park once again happens the next day on Sunday 9 July in Vauxhall at the Pleasure Gardens, next door to the RVT. There’s an incredible mix of events and organisations taking part including UK Black Pride, the Parade Awards, circus performers, sports and dance demonstrations, there’s a dog show and a cake show plus speakers and performers and DJs of every kind. This is always a lovely day and a great way to finish your Pride in London weekend.
